5 Tips to get your baby to fall asleep faster

5 Tips to get your baby to fall asleep faster

I don’t think there is a best way since everyone is different. But here are some tips you might want to try.

  1. Music.

I think this is an obvious one. However it really depends what kind of music, usually super fast music is harder to process therefore the baby keeps being more active instead of settling down for sleep. Some good styles of music would be classical, jazz, bossa nova, lo-fi, harp music or just google sleeping music for babies on YouTube, Spotify or other streaming services. It’s also worth noting that you shouldn’t play music at a very high volume, quite opposite actually, you might want to reduce the volume slowly until it’s just silence, because this will calm the baby. You might also want to choose slower and slower music.

  2. Lower the light levels.

This might be another obvious one but it is a biological process, our circadian rhythm is associated with light levels, when it’s bright we wake up and when it’s dark we fall asleep. However, babies might have nyctophobia (fear of the dark), so make sure you have something like a night lamp in your room.
  3. Make sure he/she is feeling comfy.

This one is kind of self-explanatory, your baby is just another human being, if you don’t feel comfortable in your bed, you are going to have a harder time sleeping. Make sure you use soft blankets of good material like cotton.
  4. Reduce all the inconviences.

Now , always check before his/her sleep session, is your baby hungry, is it clean? Is the diaper dirty or wet? Is your baby hurt? is there anything sharp under the blanket like a hard toy? Does he/she crave attention or love? Make sure you offer him enough time as a parent and show your love to your baby.
  5. Reduce coffee from your diet.

Now this might be a controversary one, but if you’re still breastfeeding him, you might deliver small amounts of caffeine to his body which will definitely keep him hyper-active.
